    11/2 C. Is actually 12oz. Because a cup is 8 oz. & 1/2 cup is 4 oz.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper 6 годин тому

      1 1/2 cups is a volume measurement and ounces is a weight (or can be fluid volume, which is why it is so confusing) measurement. So, 4 ounces of something in weight can vary in volume measurement. For example; 1 cup of feathers does not have the same weight in ounces as 1 cup of rocks, but they have the same volume measurement. So, it depends on the context and what you are measuring. In this instance, 8 ounces by weight of ditalini pasta is 1 1/2 cups as a dry volume measure. Hope that helps!

    This really was super fun and easy to make! Wow! I made it without my kitchen catching fire so xD Small mention, when you went over the ingredients you didn't mention the lemon juice. Thankfully, I had watched the whole video before going shopping, so I knew to get some, but when I was rewatching the ingredient review I ended up not prepping it. Thankfully, it was super quick to grab it while my blueberries got all cozy in the sugar water hot tub :P

    No need to fold the dough at all because it’s not about the layers as in your biscuits and also don’t over knead the mixture as this creates gluten which will make them tough,if anything the dough should be slightly sticky then you just add a bit of flour on top of the worktop and on top of the dough so the pastry cutter doesn’t stick,this will result in making the lightest,well risen fluffy scones.

    Will definitely be doing this on my Traeger! Perhaps a mustard-based "gold" bbq sauce would be good to add in if one wants to avoid the "pinkish" effect..." Edit: Wanted to ask also, do you think cold-smoking the dressing separately would be a good additional pop of smokiness, or would it be too overpowering?

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper День тому

      A mustard base bbq sauce would be good! The smoke flavor is mild on the potatoes, so cold smoking for a bit wouldn’t be too over powering, but you would probably want to cube and cold smoke the potatoes before adding the dressing. Unless you spread out the prepared potato salad on a tray and put that tray on a tray of ice and cold smoked for a bit, that might work. Whatever you try, just keep food safety in mind. 😁

      @TheSaltedPepper ... of course: Mode: SMOKER SETTING Temp: 225°F Time: 1.5 hours Pellets Used: AlderWood Place eggs either directly on Grill Grate OR in a pan that will fit in the WFG. Close the lid and use the settings listed above. When the timer ends, place the eggs in an ICE BATH for 5-7 minutes to cool down enough to peel (the ice bath should help the eggs to be easily peeled, too). Result: lightly smoked flavor with beautifully tinted egg adter peeling. Hope you enjoy these as much as I did. I think they'll be a great addition to your potato salad, which I intend to make for July 4th party! Thank you, Louise!

    I just ordered the Ninja eg201 yesterday which I guess is the updated version of the original as Ninja doesn't have the ag301 on their website. I read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of videos before making my decision. The XL was attractive because of the temperature probe, but it would take up more real estate on my countertop and I'm only cooking for me. The decision was made when I watched a video comparing the two and she made spatchcock chicken. The chicken would not fit in that shallow pan of the XL without smashing it down and then it still was touching the upper screen and the temperature probe did not even measure the correct temp. When it said it was done, the chicken was still bleeding. She indicated that she probably could fit a whole rack of ribs in the XL tho and probably couldn't in the regular Ninja. But if I want to make ribs, I can cut the rack in half. So it was really a no brainer for me to buy and smaller (but deeper) unit ... which, BTW fit only one less pork chop than the XL. Also, you can get a 3-tier rack for dehydrating for the deeper unit so I can get rid of the dehydrator I have. If you buy the XL, don't trust that temperature probe!

    Have you tried peeling the potatoes before smoking? To me that would probably be a better way of infusing the flavor, though I have no experience with smoking so I don't know if the potatoes would end up being unpleasantly dried out by doing so.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper 2 дні тому

      They would become very dry and you would have to peel the outer layer of potato which would remove the smoke flavor. It’s best to leave the skin on and use thin skinned potatoes.
